An intellectual authority bridging scholarship and practice
Professor Neil Thompson has spent over four decades developing the theoretical frameworks, evidence-informed models and practice wisdom that professionals need to make genuine difference in complex human situations. His work represents a rare integration of rigorous scholarship with extensive frontline experience – reflected in his higher doctorate (DLitt), full or honorary professorships at five universities and over 50 published books.
What distinguishes Neil’s intellectual contributions is his 3Ps Framework: understanding People in all their complexity, analysing Problems with critical depth and recognising Potential for positive change. This philosophy, refined over decades of both scholarship and practice, offers a coherent framework for critically reflective practice – not simplistic answers, but sophisticated tools for thinking well about complex challenges.
