People commonly talk about what causes a particular behaviour or reaction. However, as it is people we are talking about, it makes more sense to talk about reasons, rather than causes. Human beings exist in a social context that is very powerful in its wide range of influences and we are, of course, subject to certain biological forces and constraints. People in the UK are living and working longer than ever before. However, the Covid-19 pandemic and its aftermath have exposed serious physical and mental health issues facing our workforce. Declining population health is a long-term trend that is forecast to get worse in coming years. Over the last century, rights and access to time off work have steadily increased. In an innovative collaboration, Helpu, the leading men’s mental health hub for Wales, has partnered with UK Mens Sheds Association and Pontypridd Mens Shed to produce a compelling campaign film to promote the benefits of Social Prescribing Day, observed annually on March 14th. Warm spaces return to UK libraries for third year running

Warm spaces return to UK libraries for third year running

Public libraries are once again preparing to provide warmth, company and support to those affected by poverty and social isolation over the winter months. Warm spaces – sometimes called warm hubs or warm banks – are free community venues where people can go to stay warm during the colder months.
