Flourish — don’t just cope.
An in-depth learning system from Dr Neil Thompson that builds complete wellbeing across body, mind, relationships, meaning, spirit and the art of living well. For social care professionals, leaders and anyone who gives a great deal to others.
Start your journey
Most wellbeing advice is either too shallow to help or too vague to use.
You know the basics. Sleep well. Move more. Be grateful. Set boundaries. And yet the pressure of caring for others, day after day, has a way of eroding all of it. The tips do not stick. The good intentions fade. And the deeper questions — about meaning, purpose and how to keep going in the face of suffering — go unanswered. Wellbeing XYZ has been built specifically to address all of this.
A system, not just a course.
Wellbeing XYZ is a structured 25-step learning system unfolding over several months. Every module pairs evidence-based learning with a Rooted Routine you can actually sustain. You assess where you are at the start, the mid-point and the end. You finish with an integrated plan you have built yourself — not borrowed from a guru. The result is not a burst of motivation that fades. It is wellbeing that holds.
Three dimensions. One coherent journey.
The XYZ framework
XYZ maps the full spectrum of human flourishing:
- X — The science. Evidence-based positive psychology, built on the PERMAH framework: positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, accomplishment and health.
- Y — The spirit. Transcendence, awe, purpose and spiritual resources, through an inclusive framework open to all faiths and none.
- Z — The art of living. Life wisdom for navigating transitions, ageing, mortality, legacy and a life well lived.
Rooted Routines
Underneath every dimension sits the Rooted Routines method: small, sustainable habits anchored to things you already do. Each is built around a clear trigger, practice and rationale, and a daily rhythm of grounded beginning, nurturing action, thriving moment and nourishing reflection. It is how insight becomes habit — and how habit survives a difficult week.
If you do work that matters to other people, this is for you.
Wellbeing XYZ has been designed with two primary audiences in mind:
- Social work and social care professionals and students who want to stay effective, resilient and whole in emotionally demanding work.
- Managers, leaders and HR professionals across all sectors who want to build wellbeing in themselves and ripple it out across their teams.
It also serves a third group: basically anyone who want to maximise their health and wellbeing, including small business owners who recognise that their business will only ever be as well as they are.
